“What if I like me like this?” (2021), oil on paper, 80cm x 80cm

What if I like me like this? (2021)

"What if I like me like this?" is an extension to the "filteredbody" series. In this painting I pose to exaggerate my facial "flaws" - my crooked teeth and hairy nostrils. The exposure of my mouth and teeth is reminiscent of the examination of a horse's teeth and hooves before purchase - a quality check.

This work is part of the “Meat out of Place” series, inspired by the essay “Something out of place” by Eimear McBride.
